"Ladies Night" Makes List of Man's Favorite Songs

Local man and music appreciator Gord Gretson recently posted his list of favorite songs on his blog and, much to the dismay of his three friends and two readers, Kool & The Gang's "Ladies Night" found its way in to the number two spot.

"'I assembled 'Gord's All-Time Top Ten' after a successful night at the bar." explained the 34 year old male, "It was a bender. A real bender." The list, which also features songs by the Beatles and Aerosmith, was posted early Saturday morning, and by Saturday afternoon, comments were beginning to appear on the site questioning the choice of Ladies Night as number two.

"It's a song that has it all" defended Gretson against the negative feedback. "Ladies, sex, repetition of key lyrics that croon to the classic riffs... It should be obvious that I even considered bumping it up a spot to number one."

"Sure, number three or four I could understand, but number two?!" remarked close friend and blogger Nick Serghet, when asked about the rankings. "I'm not sure I fully understand the series of events that led to Gord assigning this tune to the number two. It does have a nice baseline though."

"Yeah, "Ladies Night?" Kind of weird that it even made it on there. Gretson's lived next to me for three months now and every day his apartment starts to smell more and more like cheese. I don't know what it is, maybe he just really likes cheese or he doesn't shower. Me and the guys got a pool going with odds and everything one night a month ago, but we can't find the sheet of paper we took it all down on, so I guess we'll just cross our fingers and get stoned in the meantime." explained neighbor Rob Remmer, 19.

Gord continued to defend the accusations by calling them "irresponsible, and probably not well researched." He also pointed out that there were very few negative thoughts directed to other lists he's posted like 'Gord's Fav Drinks' and 'Gord's Got Hunger: The Authoritative Favorite Snacks Unlimited.' "None of my friends argued over the churro as number three, and certainly all were in agreement over the whiskey-bong as number one. No one's ever done that again though, so you can imagine there was some disagreement over whether or not it was technically just an Honorable Mention by default. I guess all I'm saying is it's a great song with a cool downbeat, great lyrics that speak to an entire generation, and none of that unwholesome depravity so signature of today's musicians.

Plus, my hand got squished into a younger woman's thigh near the back bar right before Kool sang "Oh what a night!" for the 19th time."
